In Chicago
i had an interview with Medline Industries on friday for a summer 2007 internship, and boy was it an adventure::
i was going to try find a ride up to the facility, which is in waukegan, but alas- the snow kicks in and driving is outta the picture.
the night before my scheduled departure, i scramble for some Amtrak tickets- just in time to get the last seat on the incoming Champaign-> Chicago train at 6:10am [much thanks to joanne kim whom i called at 5:30am to drive me to the station]however- there's a dilemma- since i bought my tickets so late, all the outgoing Amtrak trains are full and i have no way back to Chambana- w00t? [i think so] =)
[i ended up getting the IlliniExpress back to chambana from Union Station- which is another story in itself]so my trip consisted of:
5:00am wakeup
6:10am Amtrak depart Chambana
9:00am Amtrak arrive Chicago Union Station- free time? -
11:35am Metra NorthLine depart Chicago Ogilvie (which was interesting to try to find- for a fob who's never been in downtown Chicago alone before)
12:50pm arrive Waukegan
Cab to the Medline Facilitythe interview went pretty well- i think. i was pretty tired by the time i got there, considering that i slept about 4 hours each night during the week, and that 5:00am morning wasn't too hot either.
i got a pretty interesting question from the VP of the department that i'm interviewing for::
"i'm going to ask you a problem solving question- i want to hear your thoughts as you work through the problem-
'you have a 10lb bowling ball on a boat at the deepest part of the pacific ocean; the mariana trench. if you drop the bowling ball into the water, how long does it take to reach the bottom?'"
yeah- that was a fun one =D
anyhow- apart from that, and also a test which they gave me at the end of the interview, i'd say it went pretty well =P
getting back was crazy tho.
that's pretty much a whole other story that i'm too tired to write out- lets just say i got back to chambana at 12:0am. what a long dayand now the best part of the post::

what is that Chinese symbol on your photos? your name in Chinese? I think I saw a man who had a tattoo that resembled that.
