  • good morning xanga world

    Hi guys!

It’s earlier than I expected; just sitting at my desk waiting for the 12:30pm church service, at Covenant Fellowship in Urbana Champaign.

I just thought that I’d give a quick update of where I’ll be during the next week.
On Monday night, or evening, I’ll be driving up after work to Chicago to crash with my friend, Chris Sullivan, for the night- we’ll be leaving early Tuesday morning for Pennsylvania to attend the One In Love, winter conference held at Montrose, PA. A 16 hour bus ride is something I’m not really looking forward to, but this year we will be traveling on bus (coach bus?), which should make for some pretty crazy times with all the other church members who we’ll be traveling with! (I don’t know if my friend, Hyun Seok still reads this blog, but, a shout-out to him: “The cool kids sit at the back of the bus”)

It’ll be my third time attending the conference; and will be joining forces again, for the second time, with Kenny Kim and Kenny Nakai and the media team. It’s a blast hanging out with these guys!; last year I experienced the conference from a different viewpoint as part of the ministries serving at the conference- but moreso, because these media guys are the midnight-warriors of the conference; when you’d think that it’s time to go sleep- these guys bust out their laptops (and some even bring their home desktop systems) and begin working on the slideshows and pictures for the next morning.
Please keep us in your prayers! For servants hearts, joyful spirits, and also, much rest through the zombie hours of the night!

  • “where the heck is that ‘new entry’ button?”

i find it somewhat amusing, that i’m totally lost with all the small little bells and whistles that xanga has put on, since the last time i really was a xanga-poweruser; i couldn’t even figure out how to make a new blog post- i was hovering my mouse over everything i could find. heh

no picture post for now; i might do a short photoshoot of my car, Howard, the Honda Civic Sedan LX. it’s kinda a big deal that i have a car, considering that i only recently got my driver’s licence (as in, i didn’t know how to drive… at all) in June, and shortly after, got my car in July- and i’ll tell you, i had some crazy times with driving- about a week after i got the car, i drove up from chicago, to indiana for a church retreat; it’s not the best thing to do since Howard was still in the breaking-in stages; but that’s besides the point- on the drive up to indiana, i miscalculated my stopping power and ended up slamming the breaks, and ended up in the middle of an intersection; yeah. crazy times

people do ask me why i named my car as a guy- i don’t really know; i think i figured that since i called my GPS, Sexy-Voice (trust me, it makes for a good name; “take the next left turn”, and i’ll reply, “yes, Sexy-Voice, whatever you say”- okay; maybe not that funny but i find it amusing), i figured that i had to balance it out and i named my car Howard. i also didn’t even think about trying to find a name that started with an ‘H’, in lieu of having a ‘Honda’, but- it just turned out that way.

recently, (as in, last night) i went perfect-me on cooking, and learning how to cook. i think it started when i watched ‘Kitchen Nightmares’ with my roommate, Marky Mark Paik. all i have to say is, Gordon Ramsay is the man; sure, he’s a jerk- but he’s brilliant! so since then, i’ve been wanting to pick up one of his cook books- the only thing that’s been holding me back is, well, the frequency of travel that i’ve been making from Chicago to Champaign, and, the cost of one of his cook-books. ironically, i ended up picking up one of Jamie Oliver’s cook books, which touches more on the foundations of cooking. here, i’ll even link a picture of the book, just so that this post won’t be so dry and picture-less. the book can be found on amazon, if you want to check it out- Cook with Jamie

but that isnt even the extent to which i’ve been going perfect-me (by the way, i keep using this term ‘perfect-me’, which is used to denote the sinful desire of my heart; the desire which seeks satisfaction, apart from being satisfied in God alone; see Heart Motives, and i guess look up Total Depravity – please note that i did not read this actual page on total depravity, i just didn’t want to use a wikipedia definition. lol; hopefully the site i linked won’t be heretic *shifty eyes*)

(wow, i just realized that was a long aside); but to gain more insight to the depth of my sin, the items that i’ve been looking at purchasing on amazon: Cooking Tools List, which was created through a couple hours of researching ‘the best of the best’.
by the way, do check out ConsumerSearch.com, it’s a nice site for reviews, that i ran across while reveling in my perfect-me sin.
also, youtube: ChefToddMohr has been immensely helpful in understanding a lot of the foundations in cooking

well, i guess this concludes this post-
pictures of my Iro fixie cycle, and Howard the Honda will be posted in the near future, i hope; i have nothing else to take pictures of. heh

  • 2008.5.16 Fisherman’s Wharf

    sup guys;
man- i never update this often; this is actually going to be a real quick picture post because i didn’t take that many pictures today

it was like 31deg Celcius today in SanFran; the record high since like- 1970 or something-

i actually ended up with a huge headache from the heat, so i didn’t take that many pictures

well; these pictures aren’t of fisherman’s wharf-
we stopped at the viewpoint overlooking the golden gate- cos; well, we’re tourists and we do this kinda touristy stuff

yeah; it helps to have long arms, and a wide-angle lens when you’re touring
i feel kinda nervous when people offer to take a picture for me and my family with my camera; i’m just like- oh, thanks; but it’s okay

they’d be handling some heavy duty equipment, if you know what i mean

  • 2008.5.11 GRADUATION!!!

well, for those who didn’t know- I GRADUATED!
Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering; holleerrrr

props to christina for taking pics for me

my parents they flew all the way from singapore, and made it to the cornfields to be at my graduation
they’re happy- no more school fee’s to pay for now!

this is my buddy, Rajiv; we’ve been going to the same school sine pre-school.
which is pretty cool since our pre-school, elementary, middle, and high-school years were in Singapore.
i kinda followed Rajiv (aka. Juice) here when i didn’t know which universities to apply to, so i just
took his school list and applied to the same ones and, we both ended up here.
another little tid-bit; we also interned at motorola together-
but he’s finally gotten rid of me, as he’ll be working with Huron Consulting now; and, well
    i’m still unemployed
    congrats bro!!

i don’t know what i was doing in the next series of pictures-
it was windy- and; well, it makes for a good dramatic effect in pictures
